Any chance more categories can be added? Our store has thousands of skus it would be helpful to narrow down the results for our customers.

This can be done with a little SQL work...  Fro example you can relate a product to a primary category then relate it to more than one secondary category, you can then search for products that are related to a single category and various combinations of secondary categories, doing this allows you to have the equivalent of many levels of categories and "subcategories"  It just takes working with your SQL logic a bit.   There's a free downloadable example of this logic available on the Customers Free Downloads page on the Cartweaver site.  Just do to the Customers page and log in to access it.

Other requests.

1. Ability to show items as 'sold out' rather than removed from public view.
2. Ability to have an admin level to just view orders rather than having full access to admin controls.
3. Notification when stock is low (ability to set the number when you receive notification)
4. to be able to search by 'options' ie. for clothing, size, colour etc
5. Automatically add stock back in when pending order deleted in admin.
   

Any idea when V4 will be ready?

We are new users of Cartweaver and are loving it already (even though we have had a few teething problems - which is expected and a good way to learn!).  We have two sites that are live now and two more in development that will be going live in the next week or so.  The above requests are just points that we have come across with these initial shop builds.

We've had add-ons built to CW3 that include:--

• Gift Vouchers (this enables customers to purchase gift vouchers for themselves or a specified person.  The Admin can also issue a gift voucher to a customer in lieu of a refund if required.  The gift vouchers can be used in conjunction with other payment methods if the total is more than the gift voucher value.
• A print all/selected orders facility with a more 'user friendly' looking delivery note page that also includes return form.
• Addition of email address and telephone number on the order page - saves time when contacting customers.
• Gift Wrap Option for each item at checkout - this then shows on order with the cost being added also.
• Show products that are out of stock with a form that customer can complete to be informed when the item is back in stock.
• Part order return facility on the order page.  This returns the items returned back to SKU (refund still needs to be dealt with via PayPal or whoever used for payment processing).
• Addition of  SKU Amount on Product List Page - makes it easier to see at a glance stock levels.
• Automatic 'return to stock' for pending orders after 1 hour.  We have some very busy sites and this has saved many hours work. 
  
• Automatic resize of image on upload (one image to 4 sizes - main image), 2nd & 3rd images to 2 different sizes.

These are the main modifications we have made to CW3 and would be great if they could be included in future versions or as add-ons to CW4.

We are currently in the process of rolling out a new site system using Mura. I just saw a youtube video that showed CW inside of Mura and am very interested in being able to use this type of functionality.

the truth of the matter is for stores with a lot of SKUs having to "touch each SKU" can be a hassle, just ask your local Safeway, or Macy's - but to accurately track inventory weight, price and manufacturer's SKU IDs for reordering stock, there's no other way to do it.  There are some applications that take shortcuts, but any shortcut taken here leads to poor inventory and data control.

Now the up-side to Cartweaver 4 is just about everything else IS easier. If better programming and UI could make it faster and easier, without compromising data integrity, we did it!  For example there's "Copy Product" function so if you have another product to add that is very similar to one that already exists, you can use that product as a starting point and just copy the product and assign it a new product ID. The you can just make a few adjustments to the product rather than having to start from scratch.

We will be adding a LOT of content to the new Cartweaver site, this forum, and the Cartweaver blog, as time goes on pointing out all these cool little tidbits.

Adding to Lawrence's comments above, we also have a "copy sku" function, and a "list view" for skus which displays them in a concise table format, so all prices and quantities, etc. can be updated in a single view, and saved with a single click of the submit button. This isn't quite an auto-sku-generator, but sure makes things easier than they were in previous versions. (See the admin demo to check these features out for yourself.)
